8. Taking the Metro to the World Expo

Even in the city, children would just stare at me gape mouthed and wide eyed. So I would speak in English, and the little Chinese I know, and try to make them comfortable with my light hair and pink skin. This little girl told me she loved me.

You are a cutie in your pink flannel PJs and your brother is adorable too. I just discovered that Costco carries Doxylamine Succinate in 25mg tabs, it is the stuff in Nyquil, along with alcohol, that helps you sleep. It works! And it doesn't have unwanted side effects like, driving in ones sleep or making chocolate covered nachos and eating them in bed.

45. I wish I had a pic to show you the wide eyed stares from children.

I had read, that as a pale person, I might get some looks, and the way to deal with them was to smile and be cordial. With increased tourism, the adults weren't fazed much, but the children, perhaps coming from rural areas to see The World Expo, were astonished. I knew I was in for some regard from when I first boarded the elevator in the Beijing airport. I was in the close proximity of a young boy, and it was the same unabashed, wide eyed, gape mouth look that the little girl in the pic first gave me. Perhaps because her mother was right there and accepting of me, this little girl became friendly and she was definitely, as you say, very sweet.

47. That reminds me of when a 4yo kid ran into a really dark Sudanese guy...

...at Barnes and Noble. I was sitting at one of the tables around the outside of the cafe, and the Sudanese guy was near me, looking at the GED study materials. The little boy and his mom are going from the center walkway to the restrooms and the boy sees the Sudanese guy and tells his mom "Look at that guy's cool skin!" and his mom goes "it's beautiful skin, isn't it?" and the Sudanese guy was just grinning from ear to ear! :rofl:.

My father was a practical joker.

When I was four, I was playing by myself in the
basement and I heard someone calling my name. I
figured out that it was coming from the clothes-chute,
so I climbed onto the table, unlatched the chute and
looked up...to see my Dad's face in the rectangle of
light at the top.

Then his head disappeared and the next sensation
I had was a deluge of water hitting me square in
the face.

Ha ha, Dad.

My mother was in on it, too.

This probably explains part of my bad attitude
as a child.

We had a lot of younger people there with us that night, so for their sake we were giving out cute awards.

Somehow, even with my legs all strapped down in a wheelchair I won the "Sexiest" award that night that we expected all the young women to be competing for. What we didn't expect was that those young women were all voting for Me while they were competing against each other! Shocked the hell out of me, it have to tell you!
