Every time I come home I leave with more stuff to put in my truck |
|
Pretty soon I'm going to have to customize my sleeper and extend it to make room for all of my stuff.
The "English hard to learn" thread made me start thinking of my attempts to learn Spanish. I've got a boat load of audio CDs, a Spanish/English dictionary, and a first year college text book that are all going in the truck now. Gee, thanks guys! :eyes:
I do a run to southern California sometimes and I run across a lot of Spanish speakers down that way. It would be cool to practice my Spanish with them.

Carrying a lot of stuff can be a problem......till you need it, anyway!
Hey, if you're getting to SoCal, let me know. It would be fun if we could visit!

2. I will let you know when I'm headed that way |
|
When I get down there, I usually have a few days on my hands waiting for a load. Our terminal is in Commerce and if I have a couple of days I stay at the Kinghts Inn just down the road to the east. I forget the name of the street there. I think it's Washington Blvd.
We could swap stories and poems. That would be cool. Maybe a collaborative story/poem for the good folks here at DU.

"Sorry, folks. I didn't know this was a no truck zone." That was the first thing I ever heard on a CB radio.

6. And that would work too! |

Except we have no lawn, lol!
Would you have the trailer? There is usually room right around the corner from our house where you could park the truck part.
:D

That would be a lot easier!
We gotta do this!
We could have a great visit...I'll cook, and we'll talk, and my husband will play the piano, and like that!
I think you have my phone number, but I'm going to PM it again just in case.

5. you also will probably have access to a lot of Spanish-language |
|
radio stations as you drive across the country -- that's a good way to get your ear "tuned" to the language, as well. :hi:

11. I was fluent in German after living there for almost 4 years... |

(edit because I'm SO bad at math, I listed Czech, Spanish, German and English as three languages). . . . . ...(although I can remember almost none of it), but I'm really ashamed of myself for not taking the time to learn at least survival Spanish after living here in Tucson for 12 years now. . . . I can say the most important thing in the world in four different languages, though... Czech, Spanish, German and English (though I'm not sure of the Czech spelling -- I guess I need... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...SpellCzech) . . . 1. Prosimte muses mir dat jedno pivo. . 2. Uno mas cerveza, por favor. . 3. Noch ein Biere, bitte. . 4. Please, please, please, pleasepleasepleaseplease can I have another beer, please? . . . . . . . . Please? . . .

My step-dad told me that one. He said that's all I need to know if I ever go to Mexico. Yes, he is a bad American. :)
