Speaking of housing, how'd you rate individual landlords/ladies vs. property managers?

From my personal experience, I would MUCH rather deal with property managers than an individual who rents out her house/apt/trailer.

Individuals who rent out always think if anything breaks, you broke it, even if whatever is broken is real old. They don't want to spend any money to fix anything. They don't appreciate a good tenant who keeps things up and pays rent on time. They seem to want their money, but don't want to be bothered with any problems or maintenance.

YMMV, of course.

1. I've had much better luck with individuals. The standard "property manager" excuse is...

"That's just the rules the corporation gave me. I don't have any say in the matter."

It took three weeks in February (yes, it was cold) to get a fucking water heater replaced.

I apologize to anyone who had to be in my vicinity at the time. I didn't shower very often.

i have never had a good management company, but only one bad individual landlord over the years.
