While no stranger to the allure and glitz of the silver screen and Hollywood, legend has it that Nancy Sinatra was scared to death to record this theme song to the fifth Bond film. It's understandable considering that the two previous Bond songs had become instant hits thanks to the memorable nuances of Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, respectively. Sinatra admitted to asking the songwriters if they wouldn't rather have Shirley Bassey record the tune. Incidentally, the film features two versions of the song. One is a full-blown orchestrated version, the other is a guitar driven version. Despite being received as one of the key Bond theme songs, it only managed to reach #44 on the pop charts.
