I had a uterine ablation last year and now I don't do that anymore, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
Before that, I'd have two a month lasting about 8-10 days each, and I often became anemic.

I don't have an endometrium, though. No fucking way I would have a hysterectomy unless not doing do would kill me.
Depo-Provera also prevents periods for most women.

however stress can do alot of things to a womans cycle. But I do think given the fact that your relationship was ending, she was most likely lying to you. I would just like to say I had a friend with very irregular periods and she would get it for 2 weeks in a row, then nothing for a month...She went to a doctor though, so if your ex didnt see a doctor or was not concerned, she was most likely lying to avoid sex.

I was having two periods a month before I had my endometrium burnt out. It's a pretty common occurrance, according to my doctor.

and tampons. Guys are so funny. I guess bleeding painfully out of their dick once a month for 30-40 years of their lives, seems like it would suck. Well guess what, we dont like feeling as if our uterus is coming detached from our insides once a month.

14. Endometrial Ablation, People! |
|
Why have periods when you can them surgically removed? An ablation just burns off the endometrium, leaving the uterus and ovaries in place. As a bonus, an ablation makes sperm poisoning very unlikely.

20. I am incredibly lucky... |
|
I was athletic as a teen and I've heard that's part of the reason I have fairly easy periods. My mom also didn't set my up psychologically for them to be awful...didn't go on and on about bloating and cramping and give me a gory story about it. Just the straight facts.
I still have relatively easy periods, although the first day when I'm bleeding a lot isn't pleasant and I love to have someone spoon up behind me and rub my tummy. :)
The best part is that I'm so regular that you could set your calendar by my periods.

and I'm on the pill. I'm 41 now.
I started taking the pill in my late 30s because my periods were becoming increasingly intense: wild PMS mood swings, depression (I'm normally in Spock mode), intense bleeding and cramping (lasting 6-7 days)
Things have calmed down quite a bit. I'm thinking I might be heading into peri-menapause now, because the last few months the bleeding has dropped off significantly, though still present. And I'm buying a lot less tampons. A box of regular OB now lasts me two months instead of one.
Anybody use Seasonale? That's the pill where you only get your period every 3 months I think.

24. I know it's a rhetorical question... |
|
but I'm gonna answer it anyway. Maybe it's because we're tired of a perfectly normal and natural bodily function that we live with for most of our lives being treated like it's something dirty and shameful that we should NEVER talk about in public.

I'd have written the same thing if the poll was about the volume of a man's ejaculation or the estimated weight in grams of the boogers in your nose at any one time.
The underlying question is why people are compelled to discuss ANY bodily functions in public.
I happen to think most if not all bodily functions should be kept private, regardless of gender or the gas/fluid/solid involved.

but pax anyway. :)
Mostly I was just kvetching about how society in general treats women's bodies as somehow unclean. Periods are no big deal and I have always thought that the taboo around them makes starting worse for little girls than it has to be.

31. We've had questions and polls in the Lounge about |

all sorts of bodily functions. I recall one the other day about what food gives you gas. Why is this any different?
Would you care to clarify why you think this is a "new low"?

My ex liked to have sex when her period came around. She said it helped with cramps. Is this true? Don't know why I read this post, curious I guess.

Especially sex at the very beginning of hte period. Something about the hormones released from a good orgasm. Plus if you do it right it's very relaxing. And there's the added bonus of not really having to worry about getting pregnant while you're having your period.

I love sex during my period. The cramping builds a lot of tension in to my body. Sex is a great stress reliever. :D
In fact, the only delightful side effect of PMS is that I get very horny. }(
