4. Why? It's a tragic, compelling, current issue worthy of discussion and debate... |
|
Are you bothered by the topic or tired of it? Perhaps you might consider avoiding threads you aren't interested in, no? That's one lovely thing about DU - we can read/contribute to/ignore whatever we like, and change our minds, too.
But to answer your question somberly: Yes. They will go away at some point. There aren't many posts about Haiti any more, or the Massey explosion, Obama's inauguration, Sen. Kennedy's passing, or the BP rig disaster (though with investigation results emerging, as with Massey - they may re-emerge for a while).
There are a ton of threads to choose while you wait, right? Why not click on those? No harm, no foul! : )

I am stunned when I read through those threads. I am so sure I am right and can not understand people on the other side.

6. You mean those who think it was right for the firemen, fully equipped to stop the fire, stand |
|
there - right in front of the blaze and (knowingly) let the dogs and cats die a horrible death, as well as deliberately refuse to save a family's home (the loss of which I've never experienced - not by fire, anyway) knowing how earth-shatteringly devastating that would be? The emotional trauma, material loss and unimaginable grief of the deaths of their furry family members is not a mythic result in the aftermath of such an enormous loss.
Even if the firefighters risked being expelled from the force/company/team/whatever, I always thought there was a code of honor to save and protect... and they should have done the right thing, repercussions/reprimands be damned.
Or... if you have the opposite view.... (sorry!) : )

12. The opposite view.... no sorry needed. |

I am making brownies right now to take to the fire department tomorrow and see how they feel. I believe they will feel the same way and wouldn't even think about not helping. I guess I will find out tomorrow.

13. What do you mean?? : ) : ) are you planning to set your house on fire |
|
to see if the brownies were the clincher??
I'm sure its me (it's always me....), but you have me thoroughly confused.
Not a difficult feat, I assure you.
So........you have the opposite view (they were right to let the home burn and pets die?) But you say brownies or not, you know they'd respond and douse the fire - without even considering any other option...
OHHHH..... you mean the opposite view of (assumably) that of the OP.
I think I got it. I hope. ... Takes me a while sometimes...
