Pre-Chicken Nugget Meat Paste, AKA Mechanically Separated Poultry
Wow, I think I'm going to order two six-piece mcnugget baskets.

Fooducate writes:

Someone figured out in the 1960s that meat processors can eek out a few more percent of profit from chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows by scraping the bones 100% clean of meat. This is done by machines, not humans, by passing bones leftover after the initial cutting through a high pressure sieve. The paste you see in the picture above is the result.
Michael Kindt continues:

There's more: because it's crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia... Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

The resulting paste goes on to become the main ingredient in many of America's favorite mass-produced and processed meat-like foods and snacks: bologna, hot dogs, salami, pepperoni, Slim Jim-like jerkys, and of course the ever-polarizing chicken nugget, where the paste from the photo above was likely destined.

1. Watch Modern Marvels history of lunch meats
It will make you swear off all that stuff for good. I did.

I always thought that turkey deli breast was one big turkey breast - wrong. Its about 4 or 5 of them smooshed together and vacuum sealed and cooked. Gross.

I hardly ever eat chicken and tell nephews and nieces not to feed that crap to their kids. But they love that crap, and its easy to fix. Yuck

3. I don't know why, but i just don't see the problem with this.
I think it's an efficient way of suing the whole animal and gathering as much of the protein as possible. And no, they aren't grinding up the beaks and eyeballs and bung-holes in there...

7. That's my take too. It looks bizarre, but no grosser (less really) than slicing
a bloody chunk off of a dead animal. I'll eat the one, so why not the other? (Conditioned, of course, on the absence of bungholes, fecal matter, and other disallowed contaminants.)

The MSM lacks the taste of other forms, and probably contains more salt and preservatives, which are reason to avoid it, but the processing itself is irrelevant.

(Interesting that 'mechanically separated meat' and 'main stream media' have the same acronym; perhaps there's a lesson there... :))

4. I toured a meat-packing plant about 5 years ago
Two things struck me -- one was how insanely clean/sanitized it was, the other was how often I saw stuff that looked like the above picture. It's really industry standard, I think. Not pretty, but neither is anything else involving meat I guess.

8. Secret FDA order #2016.91423 requires addition of green dye to anthropogenic protein sources
This regulation was enacted after the Chicken Nugget scandal of 2012.

The fluorescent green dye is known to cause anaphylactic symptoms in some individuals (including death) but the upper classes do not want their food supply contaminated with the petite bourgeoisie and proletariat. A simple UV light test reassures affluent consumers that a meat product is not people.

9. Not only has this been pretty thoroughly debunked
by someone who used to work in the industry:
