If you're the last poster in a thread, and after that the thread dies,

does that make you a bad person?

1. I always figure it's a collective statement of...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
...something akin to "No more need be said" or "What could I possibly add to that" or
"I guess that says it all".
.
.
.
.
.
.
But more likely, in my case, it's "EWWWW, that post has cooties!!! YOU post next!!!"

4. Not really.
It used to. But it happens so often I just kind of got used to it. And I look at it as fertilizer for the next set of posts. For new ones to blossom and grow the old ones must die.

7. In GD, it just means everybody has run off to post in the 20 latest threads on that topic

14. You're right.
*** official threads *** are much more cohesive. It's hard to read 95 threads on the same subject, ya know?

9. I too often take it personally
Not so much in GD but certainly at times here in the Lounge where we all know each other a little better... I'm not important enough to single-handedly kill a thread, but I occasionally wonder if I'm not being 'cool' enough or whatever. I'm such an awkward dork sometimes... lol

It's clearly a self esteem issue... at least in part. Sometimes the lounge feels to me a bit like jr hs and I'm that new weird kid that no one wants to be seen with. So if a thread dies after I've posted in it, I sometimes think I've somehow ruined it by my mere presence. Sort of like a skunk at the picnic kind of thing. Funny and pathetic at the same time, I know... I guess I just take minor things WAY to seriously. Most likely, it probably has little or even nothing to do w/me but I too often think it might.

TMI? Probably. But I might as well just say it. There are alot of smart, witty, wonderful people here and sometimes I just don't feel as if I measure up. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's a newbie related trying-to-fit-in thing that others have felt at times too?

11. Well...
:D I would agree that there are some posters whose posts beg for a response and some people in The Lounge are close, so they tend to play off each other in threads, I find this very enjoyable to read, as I am sure most people do. But to think your posts are not good enough for a response? Probably not right on that. Most posts don't get responses, take a look. Anyway, repeat after me, "I am good enough, smart enough and doggone it, people like me." Now; feel better?

13. LOL! Yes, I do feel better
Thanks!!! And you're right... Furthermore, who cannot help but truly appreciate someone who quotes Al Franken's "Stuart Smalley" character? :-)
