Why I am not going to see "The Social Network" |
|
I am not going to see it in the theatre, I'm not going to buy the DVD, I won't watch it on broadcast or cable TV.
The reason is very simple: Marc Zuckerberg looks like the kind of guy who got his fucking head flushed on an hourly basis when he was in high school. I really don't feel like spending eight dollars to see the Swirlie King in action. Yeah, I know he's got a brazillion dollars in the bank, but I don't give a shit.

1. In other news, Marc Zuckerberg just bought the word 'not'. |

You are now in violation of his copyright.

3. I just don't want to put more $$$$ in his pocket |
|
I'm happy to use FB, I just don't need to see any massive ego stroke of a movie showing the early days...

when none of the founders were involved in the film making process. I'm not sure it how it works when portraying living people so would they get a pay check? I doubt it but then again I'm not 100%.

I hate Facebook and everything it represents, so I don't want to go see a movie about the asshole who founded it. x(

5. Don't worry. Mark Zuckerberg is not in the movie, and he's not making a dime off of it. |

Since it was written by Aaron Sorkin directed by David Fincher, I am confident that it is a good movie, despite it being based on real events that otherwise would not hold my interest.
I'll see it when it's available for rental.

6. FWIW, it's not exactly a flattering portrayal of Zuckerberg |
|
I find Facebook to be a rather obnoxious development, on the whole, and much of the reason I was intrigued about seeing the movie was that, based upon the trailer, the film didn't look as if it would be a two-hour long glorification of Zuckerberg. After seeing it, I can tell you with certainty that it is not. It's not a two-hour long full-frontal assault on the dude or anything, but he does end up coming across as something of a jerk.

7. See it because Sorkin wrote the script |
|
He's the guy who wrote the first four (best) seasons of the West Wing. I saw The Social Network yesterday and thought it was decent. Zuckerberg isn't portrayed very nicely, more as an aloof asshole.
But the script and dialogue is very well done, because it's written by the master of conversation in TV/Movies.

9. I'm not going to go see it because the topic sounds really uninteresting to me |
|
But then, I say that about a lot of movies (occasionally to my regret)... :)
