Total fucking waste of my time.

The movie thread about "name someone who played theirself in a movie" made me think iummediately of Tom Cruise, and then thinking of talentless assclown bunghole made me think of that utterly fucking awful movie in which he plays some Civil War hero or old west gunman or something that goes to Japan and dances with the Samurai.

Not just a bad movie because Cruise so utterly fucking sucks; it would have been a bad movie anyway. But Cruise makes an otherwise bad movie an unwatchable shitstain trainwreck of a movie.

1. The Last Samurai
Not only is it a heaping, steaming pile of decaying whale shit, it's historical revisionism at its worst. There was a reason Meiji was able to reform the entire feudal system and transform the country - the peasantry was sick of samurais treating them like cattle.

2. No shit - the historical problems are as legion as Cruise's acting cliches.

3. He completely ruined War of the Worlds for me.
All I could do was laugh at his overdone and completely predictable reactions. x(

4. I never saw it - the original was so awesome (though campily bad in its way), I refuse the remake.
Especially a remake done with that artless cumdrip.

5. Valkyrie has been in my Netflix cue since it came out of DVD, but...
I keep pushing it to the bottom of the pile.

I'll REALLY have to be hard up for a movie to watch before I pop that one in, despite being interested in the subject matter.

7. Cruisers aside,
there was a fine actor in it. Same one, when was young, starred in this jewel. If you haven't seen it yet, you just must: Tampopo.

I think you saw it, though. ;)
