Vibes and prayers requested for my step-father, please

He is 76-years-old and his knees went bad,so they replaced one. He lost 100lbs within a very short period. After he got his new knee, he just lost his appetite for some reason. About three years later they decided to go ahead and replace his other knee. He went to vegas and banged his newest knee pretty bad, he was still healing from surgery.

Somehow, that "bump" triggered an infection in his leg. It ached the time after the bump, but my step-father just kept hoping it would go away. He finally had surgery and they cut out a lot of the infection and gave him strong IV antibiotics. This was two weeks ago.

My step-father went in for a follow up and the infection is worse than ever. He was admitted and we are waiting to see what they are going to do.

My grandmother is hysterical, my mother seems to be holding up OK.

If you can take a minute to send a good vibe or a prayer for my step-father I would really appreciate it. He's been my step-father since I was 13-years-old and I am close to him. His name is pat. Thanks!

Is the infection in the knee joint? If so, they may need to remove it to clear the infection; a culture should have been done to determine the organism so the appropriate antibiotics are given but sometimes antibiotics need help by removing the implant.

Make sure there's an Infectious Diseases specialist involved in his care.

Pat went into surgery today..he pulled out some stitches and staples and that was where the main inflammation was coming from..there was still some staph infection, but not nearly as bad as they first thought. So they took everything out, cleaned it, and sewed and stapled him back up again. The surgery was suppose to only take an hour and it took 2.5 hours. They are hoping he can come home on saturday.

Anyway, my mother works monday, tuesday, and every other wendsday. So on the days she is at work, I am going to caregive for pat at their house. If there was no one to be home with pat during the day, the doctors were going to send him to a nursing home (rehab). I am glad i can keep him out of such hell.
