Interesting Star Wars trivia |
|
Five of the six movies sucked. The whole thing doesn't measure up to what its fans claim. Lucas is a mediocre film maker.

Gary Oldman had agreed to be the voice of General Grievous, but pulled out of Episode III because it was being made using actors who were not part of the Screen Actor's Guild.
Also, George Lucas has planned to be buried in a casket shaped like the Millennium Falcon.

2. I don't think it's that bad. |
|
4-Pretty good, B+ groundbreaking for its day. Nothing anyone had ever seen looked like it. It was basically a fairy tale in outer space. I really like it and am willing to overlook the fact that it is essentially Alexander Nevksy and The Hidden Fortress smooshed together.
5-Best of the six. A- and the only reason it is a "minus" is because it does not explain the discontinuity of time of the Dagoba and Cloudy City story lines. They start off together near Hoth and end up together on Cloud City. Yet it seems like Han & Leia spend only a day or two at CC while Luke is on Dagoba for months at least. Otherwise, awesome story.
6-C+ and the only reason it does that well is because it resolves the first two and because Lucas is a bit of a pervert. A recycled story about blowing up the exact same giant thing in space. Plus the whole Ewok fiasco really brought down the tone of the film.
---------------
1 F, sucked dog ass through a straw. Lucas didn't learn from the Ewoks, so we got a cartoon frog man who is the only creature in the universe who can't talk properly. We have ethnic stereotypes, a whiny kid who is too annoying to be sympathetic, and, guess what, the film climaxes with the kid going to blow up a big thing in space.
2 C, a watchable adventure story. The acting was stilted and the language an implausible mixture of colloquial and formalistic. Also, the weird Yoda-talk seemed a lot more natural in 4 and 5 when he was only a puppet. A minimum of Jar Jar was a step in the right direction.
3 B+, I really liked the conclusion, but the whole thing was a bit rushed. There seemed to be too many loose ends to tie up in 2.5 hours. As a result, some of it was a bit forced.

9. The fact that you gave the Ewoks movie a C+ really undermines your arguments |
|
In my opinion, of course.

10. Well, consider the average film being released at any given time. |
|
C+ just means it was watchable.

3. Interesting Star Wars trivia: Skywalker Ranch is located on Lucas Valley Road |
|
The road is not named after George.
Lucas' American Graffiti was a great film.

4. Even more trivia (interesting or not is subjective) |
|
Lucas originally wanted to do a remake of "Flash Gordan". However, Dino De Laurentiis had already purchased the rights so Lucas wrote "Star Wars" instead.

7. I thought "Flesh Gordon" was a riot. Sort of a "Men in Tights" take on the movie. |
|
It is best if you can see them back-to-back.

5. You mean four, I think |
|
I consider it a two film series. SW and its sequel. Luke loses his hand and the empire wins. The End.

8. George Lucas Made Exactly ONE Great Science Fiction Film |
|
THX-1138.
Those others are very thinly disguised fantasies.
