I didn't know Edgar Winter had a musician brother.
I'm recording 3 albums for my Mom's neighbor by Johnny Winter, Edgar (Frankenstein) Winter's brother.
He has snow-white hair like his brother.

But while Edgar Winter does rock, Johnny Winter is a blues musician.

1. I knew about Johnny before I ever heard about Edgar.

He has white hair because he's an albino like his brother.

2. In his day, Johnny was much more popular and well-known than Edgar...
.
.
.
...DESPITE Edgar's Top Ten Hit(?) of "Frankenstein".
.
.
On one of their live cuts (I can't remember which of them was a walk-on),
ONE of the Winters' told the crowd, "People keep askin' me... where's
your brother?"
.
You can hear the crowd going berserk as that brother walked out onto
the stage to play.
.
.
I've always loved Johnny's wooden acoustic stuff, but he could shred
AND he actually KNEW the blues.
.
.
My new favorite picture of the both of them (Edgar on the left).

4. Johnny Winter and Muddy Waters
Seen Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter back in the 70s. One of the best concerts I have ever seen. It was in Chicago at the Auditorium I think. The acoustics were great.

7. Muddy Waters called him the whitest white boy he ever seen.
Johnny and Muddy made some of the best blues albums ever recorded (IMHO) on the Blue Sky Lable back in the 70's. Johnny invented a style of blues guitar playing that is very loud, aggressive, athletic fret work and uniquely his own. He'd wipe the floor with the likes of Eric Clapton.

9. You're kidding?
Edgar just had that one hit, Frankenstein, and I have no idea what else he's done. If it wasn't for that song, I never would have heard of him. But Johnny's been playing the blues for years, putting out lots of albums, playing with lots of well-known musicians. I saw him in concert back in the '80s; good show.
