Anyone here ever use a cobbler?

We took a pair of shoes in and had them resoled. I think it's a dying art. I guess we could have tried it ourselves as well. http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/how-to-mend-clothes10.htm

1. Sure, it's a good way to extend the life of the shoes

Mostly I've used them for boots, which are pretty expensive to replace. They can also repair luggage, backpacks, leather coats, etc.

2. I always use a cobbler .... as long as

the soles are sewn vice glued ... not a problem .... I think they can fix glued soles too .. but not sure

3. We found a great one - he rebuilt a pair of Mexican cowboy boots I had for 15 years,

and they are better than new. He is in West Reading, PA and gets boots from as far as California to be repaired. It sure is a dying art...I am certain he does little more than making a living.

5. We have a guy here that does excellent work. Done work on my only pair

of dress shoes, some of my wife's shoes, and even my leather briefcase.
