Firefox adblocker help?
Adblocker was interfering with the video feed from SyFy's "rewind" site, so I went in and deleted the filters that I thought might be causing the problem.

However, it appears that I essentially eliminated all of the ad filters offered by this add-on, and every site I visit seems to have between 50 and and 500 annoying ads filling up the screen.

I'm very confident that I never had to go through and block all of these ads one by one when I first installed the app; is there a way to set a sort of "blanket" protection that I'm simply forgetting?

What's the trick?

1. Re wind.
That is funny.

I can tell you a story about the wind, there was a day once, where the wind played in the trees outside my house for three days, was one of the best days I ever had, or in the top ten at least.

I don't eliminate anything, after a short thought on concepts of empathy I stopped doing that years ago, and only did it for a very short time, was stupid thing to do based on bad teachings.

live and let live. Better idea.

Side note, I am still due money for beer and travel, and many experiences.

Ulm is where Sophie's family lived. I just posted a diary entry from a book about her yesterday.

"Sophie must have felt a twinge of uncertainty at the idea of separation from her family in Ulm, which over the years had become more and more an island of safety in a society gone mad."

Sophie Scholl and the White Rose.

And where is the beer and travel money, and experiences? That is a disconnect and an anomaly that needs correcting.

:loveya:

On a side note, I think the reason swing music, and impressionism painting, and ideas of artistic concepts was outlawed back then, is some could only see the nightmares, not the beauty. I think that is true for some today also. It is possible to find good in so many things, and not the fear that haunts so many.

3. I'm no expert on AdBlock

My way of fixing such a problem would be to uninstall the addon and then get a fresh copy from Mozilla and reinstall it.

Or, you could try adding a Filter subscription under Preferences. It looks like I am using Fanboy's List (English) filter subscription which must be the default since I never changed it. You might test that one and see if it helps.

Edit: Sorry, I always forget square brackets don't work here at DU and text is omitted from my replies when I use them.

4. Thank you--that rings a bell!
I believe that I did indeed do some kind of subscription download, but I'd totally forgotten it.

I'll try the uninstall/reinstall thing to see if that helps.

Thanks!

8. Thanks--that's what I wound up doing
I uninstalled and reinstalled it this morning, along with the filter subscription. Works like a charm now.

9. I use EasyList (USA)
I can't remember if that's the default list or not.

10. Glad you got it sorted!
I use AdBlockPlus and if you click on the stop-sign at the top of FF browser there is an option to (uncheck) the Enable AdBlock there for a temporary fix. I guess you have to refresh the page to get the video to play after disabling AdBlock.

I, personally, when having a problem viewing a video because of AdBlock open the link in Internet Explorer. I use the IE View addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/35/ to automatically open IE on the same page I am trying to view. After installing IEView you just have to right-click and there is an option to open the same page in IE.

Disabling AdBlock temporarily may be slightly more efficient but IEView works for me. Most pages now can get around Adblock but sometimes I still have to open Internet Explorer for simplicities sake.

Just a note, I do try to keep my addons to a minimum but I still value IEView because it works for me.
