I cruised through Pennsylvania today for the first time in 4 years |

I think a lot of people don't know about the Pennsylvania countryside. A lot of people probably think about Pittsburgh and Philadelphia when they think about Pennsylvania. Well, in between those two cities there is a lot of beautiful country. I drove across I-76, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, from Ohio to the Harrisburg area and was treated to quite a sight. That area of Pennsylvania is filled with rolling hills and mountains. It's near peak season here as Fall is slowly changing the trees from green to yellow, orange, and red. I wish I could have gotten a few pictures for you guys, but I was in a hurry getting over here and now it's dark. I have to run back over to Ohio tomorrow and I'll be able to do so at a leisurely pace, so maybe I'll get a few pics then.
The turnpike is expensive to run in a truck, though. I ran on toll roads over here from Illinois. I spent about $140 and $75 in Pennsylvania alone. Fortunately, this load paid a little better than usual and that helped absorb the cost. I doubt I'd come over here if that wasn't the case.

I did drive part of that road once, and it is beautiful. Unfortunately, it was not during the fall, but the forests were still great to see...
Seeing the trees turn is something I miss a lot out here. It happens up in the mountains, but not down here where the temperatures are much milder.
I hope you can snap a few pictures tomorrow.
Safe travels...

You should see the oak trees up here in Big Bear... they started turning about a week ago along with all the other small trees I can't name. It's gorgeous!

And you're correct, its beautiful here (include Maryland's rolling foot-hills, and great leaf-peaking!)

You weren't too far from my neck of the woods! Agree on the Turnpike--- I think they recently raised the rates, AGAIN!

5. I lived 20 miles WNW of Philadelphia for about 20 years... |
|
. . . . . ...and this time of year was absolutely GORGEOUS with the changing of the trees. . . . . . I got on that turnpike about midway through once and my ticket stub was sucked out the window at 70 MPH. When I got to my exit, they charged me the toll for the whole stretch of turnpike, but gave me a claims form to fill out and mail in for a refund... which, of course, I never did. . . .
