Any other Gleeks in the Lounge?
Rhythm and I can't be the only ones. I hardly EVER watch TV, but Glee sucked me right in. I haven't enjoyed a show this much since "The West Wing".

:hi:

1. Me
I just wished they wouldn't auto-tune so damn much.
Also, Mr. shuster should never ever ever rap again, ever.

Last year, i was hoping for Lea and Jonathan Groff to do something from Spring Awakening ( i knew they wouldn't.)
I was so excited last year when he was on.
I wished they'd get Skylar Astin and John Gallagher Jr. on, too.

unfortunately for a musical geek like me, they mostly do pop songs.
But i still love the show.

7. Did you cry your eyes out during the "Rachel finds her Mom" episodes?
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 12:29 AM by Lyric
I admit it, I did. I love Idina Menzel (she'll always be Maureen to me), and watching her and Lea sing "I Dreamed a Dream" together just KILLED me.

8. Of course!
To me, she's Elphaba. For some reason, I never got into Rent. I feel like i should have, but I never did.

I dreamed a dream... Omg! Tears.

Don't get me wrong, i loved Idina on Glee, but sometimes i feel that they are relying on what the viewers want/viewer suggestions too much. The whole mom thing started and ended too quickly, i felt that could have been carried over at least through this season.
And Jenny needs more solos.

12. I agree about the auto tuning.
It probably is not necessary. I was trained to listen and to sing by my early music teachers. We had to sight-sing our instrumental parts and to sing intervals, too, in order to learn how things should sound. Do instrumental and vocal teachers still do that? Training the ear is such an important part of a music education. I listen critically to this day. My adult children say that sometimes I am too critical, even of music I love. And I do love this show!

I think the cast is good, but they are getting better as individuals and as a unit as time goes on. They just have more cohesion and chemistry. Can you imagine how much rehearsal must go into each episode?

2. And one!
Love it. Love the characters, love the thinly disguised reasons for bursting into song, ADORE Sue Sylvester and I wish Neil Patrick Harris was a regular. I can't wait to see how they handle Rocky Horror.

6. I know! Me and Rhythm are soooo psyched about that.
Rhythm's been a "Rocky" fan since the early 80's, when she spent every weekend dressing up as Riff and doing the floor show in Charlotte, NC.

I love how it's cheesy and doesn't pretend to be anything else. I love the songs. I love Rachel, Kurt, Artie, and Brittany, and I LOVELOVELOVE Sue Sylvester--especially when we see those rare moments of humanity from her. The characters I dislike the most are Quinn, Santana, and Tina. I like John Stamos, but I really wish that Will and Emma would just get their thing on and get it over with. :D

21. LOL re Emma. The only thing I can think when I see her is
"What is wrong with that woman's thyroid?"

9. NPH!!!!!
He was wonderful.
It was hilarious when the part they were fighting for was jean val jean from les miz.
Look up youtube clip of NPH and Jason Segal ( i think) from how i met your mother doing the confrontation song from Les Miz.
I couldn't help thinking that he'd make a kick ass Javert.

I can't wait for Rocky Horror, either.

3. I like it, but...
I actually think it has a bit too much music.

And they need to subtitle Brittany. She's hilarious but often I can't make out what she's saying!

4. I love what they're doing with Brittany this season.
So much more substance to her, instead of just comic relief.

10. I heard that originally
She was hired just to teach them choreography. Not sure if that's true or not- but she's a really good dancer.
Acting wise, i'm glad they're giving her more to do.

18. I can believe that.
She was incredible in the Britney Spears episode (and I have no love for Ms. Spears).

16. I am...
And I'm trying to take a break from watching my DVDs but I keep watching them over and over again! We won't get the 2nd season of Glee here until January but I've found a way of watching the new season (and I've spotted a few people from the UK doing the same).

I am a fan of musicals in general (Les Miserables, Cabaret, Chicago, Spamalot, to name a few) so it's fun to see songs I recognise from musicals. I also explain a few American pop culture mentions to my British husband (I do the same with Family Guy and the Simpsons). The only pop culture references that really throw him off are Sue's rewritten historical perspectives.

We were surprised to hear about the outrage over certain scenes in Glee but I've seen far far more risque scenes here in the UK (the only program that really shocked me was Divine David, he really did push the shock button at times). I've seen naked men and women gallivanting around in UK's Big Brother (Jade Goody in 2002 for example) at prime time hours.

19. I haven't like the new season that much so far. But I'm looking forward to the
Rocky Horror episode.

Oh, and my 3 year-old granddaughter is turning into a diva. You should hear her belt out "Defying Gravity". She can blow the doors off the place!...

22. Countdown to Rocky Horror...
Btw I want to give a little love to Kurt here. He may be my favorite overall, and that Streisand/Garland duet last week was just spectacular. I wonder how long they can make these guys look like highschool kids.
