Who here has had this experience? You just know it would work between you and this other person, but you can't have even a chance at it for any number of reasons, the biggest one being that she's with somebody else.
It SUCKS.

that she would run into our open arms if she only had the chance. Maybe she really would. Who knows? But it isn't worth stressing over. I could probably make myself miserabler *new word alert* by letting my mind wander to places like that. Useless.

I think it may be some sorta right. I think most boys manage to get their heart broke by the time they are thirteen. I can't quite say whether that is true for girls.

Here's the real pisser with my particular scene.
I haven't seen whatsisname in YEARS, YEARS I TELL YA.
All the other guys I meet fall far, far short. Like, for the most part they're stupid, I have no rapport with them, and they're boring people. Even making the effort with someone else seems pointless.
Since I haven't seen whatsisname in years, I have totally glossed over in my mind all of his bad habits and character flaws. (And TRUST ME... we're talking serious, serious character flaws.)
The IDEA of whatsisname... nobody else can compete with that.

I still think of her daily, and it's been over 21 years.
I'm happy though. I just wonder how much happier I might have been if...

living in the now of it all....
no unrequited for me. waste of time, emotion and made up pain... out of past.
on edit: maybe women are just more pragmatic when it comes to love and men more emotional, lol lol. seeming like strong majority men that ten to unrequited. that is funny

...but I was willing to believe it would have worked. In retrospect, it would not have worked.
But yeah, it sucks big time.
In retrospect, the one I got is far better than any of the ones who got away.

15. Ok, listen up: There is ALWAYS someone else. Even if that person is an idea. |
|
You have to earn him/her away from the other person (or idea).

16. I think it's not possible to "just know it would work," when that person is with someone else. |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 01:18 PM by Orsino
I've felt that way, I think, but what IMO constitutes "working" is something one can't accurately predict from the outside.
But I'm even farther outside, so what do I really know?
edit: But I am sure that it does indeed suck, and so you have my sympathy and empathy.
