The sky was so clear at 2 AM, I could see that Irish constellation |
|
O'Ryan!
He has his arm raised holding a drink...the famous O'Ryan's Belt!
(I just made this up-I wouldn't want you to think I was Sirius!)

1. You know winter is coming when Orion starts coming above the horizon. |
|
I can see the Pleiades in Taurus 9 pm. It's going to get cold soon.
BTW, I have the constellation Orion tattooed on my right forearm. I even nerded it up and got Betelgeuse in red, Rigel in blue, and used pink ink for the Orion nebula.

2. Usually the hot months here are too hazy to see many stars at all... |
|
The dog woke me up, and I went out back with him, and found all those stars, even here on the edge of a small city.
And it was even cold!

I'm an amateur astronomer. I'm outside many nights viewing. I'm in central MN where there are hardly any lights, so I can see everything.

4. Both of my brothers are past presidents of the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomy |

Society. They have a very well designed observatory high in the mountains near Hamburg, PA. But the light pollution even there is steadily encroaching...
I'm always glad to be able to see what stars I can here...
