Has anyone used Clear Network. Is it reliable - what are your thoughts on it |
|
My Comcast is now over $100 and not much I can do to get it cheaper.
I won't go back to Verizon - they kept screwing up with the issue where the wires were all messed up and I kept getting disconnected. I gave them 3 chances to fix it and well, they couldn't even keep the appointments I made.
I wouldn't mind going back to dish network, I could get a basic plan for real cheap thru them. But I need an internet connection.
I've been hearing about Clear Network but curious to know if it actually works.
Anyone work with them before.
I can get internet and phone packages starting at $35.

Or at least it did where I used to live. about 2 miles away from there, in my new place, we have a 2 block inexplicable dead zone.
My observations of clear
The good: The same price each month decent internet speed. responsive customer service portable if desired.
The not as good YMMV on the internet speed. We were right across the street from their tower, and each time they checked it, we had stellar connection numbers. And it still wasn't quite fast enough to watch an uninterrupted TV show via hulu or similar site. Needed to call customer service regularly. For some reason their device had an issue with my router, and kept having to be reset from their end(i assume it was my router, because my sis took over my old location, and the clear service, and has not had the same problem. Nightly shutdown for maintenance. I think it was a bit after 1am each time. Which is annoying if you are a night person.
Anyhow, we got a deal 45 for a home and an on the go. we kept the home, and sublet the on the go portion to a family member, which meant we only paid 25 each month. The relative slowness was a bit grating at times(only when wanting to watch online TV), but we would have stayed with Clear just to be free of the Comcast billing bullshit. But we moved into this darned dead zone. On the plus side they were very accommodating about agreeing to cancel the contract early if we wanted.
Comparatively the price is decent for clear, but not great in my opinion. At 35 for clear, you can usually get a 6 month internet deal from Comcast for 20 a month, and super basic cable for about 14. So about the same price. As long as you have multiple people in the household, you can rotate names through and keep getting the deal. Or, usually, I can get them to reinstate the deal for longer than 6 months.
