3. The preview enticed me

Granted I'm a fan of movies/games like 28 Days Later and Left 4 Dead, so maybe I have a soft-spot for zombie fiction.
Heh, speaking of 28 Days Later, you have to wonder if the writers of "The Walking Dead" tried to think of a different way of having someone be thrust into the zombie-apocalypse aside from "wakes up from coma," but couldn't think of anything as plausible :P.

Kirkman (creator of the original comic)said he thought of it independently. The comic started a little before 28 Days Later came out.
