I got pulled over for doing 70 in a 65 this morning. While the cop had me there on the side of the road he decided it would be a good idea to also do an inspection. Nothing was wrong except for my speed and the cop let me go with a warning since, "You had a good attitude about it." Of course, inside I was thinking, "Fuck off and die, asshole."
According to a flier at one of our terminals, this week law enforcement across North America is stepping up enforcement for the entire motoring public, not just truckers. But that's a load of shit. They are targeting truckers. I saw a bunch of trucks pulled over today and a few cars. I saw one car zip by a state patrolman doing at least 15 over and the cop didn't budge. Put 18 wheels on that vehicle and you can bet that he'd be running it down.
Alright, I just had to get that little rant out of the way. I feel better now.
I've put in about 900 miles in the last 24 hours, which is about the most a trucker can legally do if he or she has enough hours available in his or her log book and the speed limit is 65 or better. Normally, I don't put in much more than 700 miles in that period of time. I've got a killer headache and my eyes are burning. I'm down for the night. I was running that hard because I was up against a deadline. About 5 hours ago I realized it ain't gonna happen. I called up the originating terminal and told them it was going to have to wait. They said they thought I was driving team and that's why they set the appointment so soon. I don't know where they got that idea. I sure as hell didn't tell them that.
I am relieved, but I'm still feeling stressed out. I could use a 6 pack right about now, but the closest thing I can get to a calming agent is milk, and I'm lactose intolerant.

Oh,that sounds awful...
I feel for you, I really do.
Thank goodness you had nothing wrong with your truck...
Hope you can take something for your headache, and feel better!
If you want to talk, feel free. I'm up.

It got me thinking: you write that off, right? Is there more lattitude from the Insurance Co because of the mileage you do? PS Chocolate Soy milk.

3. He let me go with a warning |

I don't know if I can write off traffic violations. I guess getting a ticket every once in a while is just the cost of doing business for some truckers. A lot of them do that prepaid legal deal and challenge any tickets they might get.

5. Don't let some insecure, egotistical A-hole ruin your state of mind. |

You're road fried.
Sleep is the best antidote, even if it seems to be hard to achieve.

6. In the winter... in German train stations, there was NO better calming, sleepytime drink than... |

. . . . . . . . . . ... honigmilch (hot honey milk). . . . I'm not that fond of milk and I'm not that fond of honey -- but together, they were amazing. The only thing better I've found to help induce sleep is a glass or two of red wine. . . . And like someone said before -- soy milk. . . . Hope you get a good night's sleep and your day tomorrow is MUCH improved over today. . . . Where you is? . . .
