We read that in 9th grade in like 1977. It has always been one of my favorite stories since then.

Every summer we got a list of like 7 books and we had to read 2 or 3 of them. Flowers for Algernon was by far my favorite. It's a wonderful story.

You know, the old "put it inside a book you're supposed to be reading" trick. I guess the teacher wasn't buying that US Gov't. was making me sob out loud. Of course, today it mightbe more believable.

13. My three daughters all are/were known "reading something else in class" kids. |

One's in college now so I'll just assume she still does it. The teachers ALWAYS brought that up in parent/teacher conferences but since they were top students and could always answer questions even though they were reading something unrelated, the teachers just let it slide.
