Mel Gibson's Hangover 2 Cameo Canceled |
|
While Jodie Foster may consider Mel Gibson "the most loved man in the film business," apparently not everyone shares her opinion. Zach Galifianakis, who helped steal last year's runaway comedy hit The Hangover, sounds like he's among them.
***
When it comes to "a movie you're acting in," says Galifianakis, 41, "you don't have a lot of control – you just show up and vomit your lines out. I mean, I'm not the boss. I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to ... I'm not making any leeway."
***
Doesn't Name Names In announcing that Gibson would not be appearing in the Hangover sequel – reputedly in the role of a Bangkok tattoo artist – the movie's director, Todd Phillips, who also directed Due Date, said, "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
Phillips did not name the individual – or individuals – who objected to the hiring of Gibson, who has weathered a storm of bad publicity over his personal life.
=====================
for those who might say what is this doing on DU: this is politics in everyday life. Not just "office politics", but an example of standing up for the moral principles for which we fight in this arena.

1. I love Zach Galifianakis |
|
and it pains me that he's known for frigging "The Hangover," and not his decade of standup, or the absolutely brilliant web series "Between Two Ferns"
And frankly, why the hell would you want Mel in a cameo? He's pretty much universally loathed at this point

2. This article says it is Zach who got Mel booted |

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5923306/zach_galifianakis_stops_the_hangover.html Makes me like him even more. I hope they get someone good to play the Bangkok tattoo artist, already the movie sounds like it is going to be enjoyable.

4. I think it is going to be good. |
|
Maybe Zach's Bored to Death co-star, Jason Schwartzman, would make a cameo as the tattooist.

5. Just heard tht the role went to Liam Neeson. |
|
Oh-kaaaaaay... I like him a lot but it seems like a pass-up of a good chance to pick someone funny. You know, someone like Blago or Don Imus or tht Kramer guy.

I can't really see him as a Bangkok tattooist, but will just have to wait and see. I agree, would rather have a funny guy in the role.
