I finally got a Nook, I wish you could ask me anything
but I'm still reading the user guide and learning the finer points. I can share basic info, though.

I wasn't sure if it would be a Kindle or a Nook, but the Nook won out. I got the 3G+Wi-Fi cause we go on road trips all over upstate PA and NY and like to look for coffee shops and restaurants. It's slow and limited, but for what I need, it's fine. I'm hoping I can avoid the lure of the iphone.

So far, the only thing I can't figure out is, when I'm on the internet, how does one go back to the page before?

1. Are you happy now?
Look what you've done.

Hopefully, a doctor can fix that nook of yours.

3. Hell, I got that over 30 years ago and could have used an instruction manual back then.
I don't need one anymore.

10. Well, not exactly, but I strongly suspect they picked the name because of the similarity.

On Edit: "Kindle" sort of bothers me. The name just brings to mind "book burning" and there's something profoundly wrong about that.

6. Do you hate book stores or love trees?
Or none of the above?

And what do you have against hard-working people that work in shipping?

8. I love book stores
I love trees. I'll probably still buy some actual books, but my fiction TBR piles are taking over the house.

11. Why did the nook win out for you? I ended up witha Kindle,
but that was mostly because I didn't feel like looking at the other readers, and the kindle was really small and lightweight and I knew that Amazon would remember always my purchases so that even if I changed kindles, deleted a book, or had something else happen, I'd never have to buy the books again.

sounds boring

maybe i will try. i know i am missing out on stuff

they will alert you to free B&N eBooks (also free Kindle and Sony books for those with other readers, though I think you can sideload Sony books on you Nook just not Amazon books). Or you can just go there to price compare eBooks and search for free ones.

Also on most Fridays B&N offers a free e-book, you can usually find out what's being offered in The Daily.

Lastly, the Nook and eBook boards are helpful if you have questions, run into problems etc.

16. With a Nook you can borrow ebooks from libraries. Here is one of my favorites and only $25 a year
for non-residents.
Click on Download Media and look at the ebooks available.

17. Here are a couple of applications you should consider if you haven't yet.
http://calibre-ebook.com/
http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/

I use these to side-load ebooks to my Nook. I haven't accessed the web directly with the Nook since I started using these programs.

Lots of good information here. The forums are especially informative.
