That's what you get for cheating, New York
Four big runs in the bottom of the fifth to offset the first run the Yankees scored by cheating. Go Rangers! Or, "Go Anyone Playing the Yankees!"

1. Nine outs to go . . .
Edited on Fri Oct-22-10 09:27 PM by gratuitous
Cano strikes out and it's down to eight . . .

2. A wasted triple, and now they're down to six outs
Yankees don't seem to have any of their vaunted plate discipline working for them.

3. Rangers get another run in the bottom of the 7th
Joba Chamberlain is warming up in the bullpen, which means that the driver is warming up the bus. So long, New York.

4. Rivera should be well-rested

5. Posada leads off the 8th
And fails to hit a lead-off five-run homer. I'll be feeling the breeze from that swing in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1

6. Down to four . . .
Sparkplug Gardner fails to ignite anything, Jeter fans weakly, and the Yankees are down to their last at bats for 2010.

7. The cowards are done for 2010
... love how they intentionally walked Josh Hamilton EVERY TIME he came to the plate during this game. Poor NYY... so, so, so very scared.

On a totally unrelated note, I don't mean to make inflammatory comments, but I truly don't understand how any progressive-minded individual could support the Yankees. They ARE the embodiment of corporate control. Big Money. Squawking influence. Wealth=Privilege. I have many friends who are Yankee fans and they hotly deny ANY connection between the highest payroll in baseball and the most WS wins, pretending the Yankees are just a local hometown favorite team; regular Joes fighting for the prize. BULLSHIT. 10% of my love of seeing the Yankees lose comes from the fact I live in Massachusetts. The other 90% comes from the fact they, and their managers, and their owners, and their environment are piggy-piggy fat cats. Billions poured into the machine that is the NYY, all to produce wins. And the fan base throws hysterical tantrums and shit-fits if the big money team doesn't win. Each and every single year, because God forbid another team of true talent and grit get a chance.

Ah, well - enough of the negativity. The corporate money team has choked yet again and will be sitting out the remainder of the year while the actual talent goes to the World Series. Congratulations in advance to the Texas Rangers, and thanks for sparing me months of sneering, gloating asshole comments from the smug, self-righteous Yankee worshippers in my life!!

15. I've been a Yankee fan for almost 30 years; you expect me to change?
It's scientifically impossible, you know, genetics and all that :).

All I have to say is that the Rangers are very damn good team, also. I think they just might win this whole thing.

16. You are one of the good NYY fans...
...hope I didn't offend you. You respect talent and clearly have a local connection to the team. I wish all NYY fans were like you; the world of baseball would be a better place!

17. Hey, don't worry about it.
I live and work among both Mets and Phillies fans, and we all good-naturedly trash talk each other's teams.

I might be a Yankee fan, but I just don't want to be associated with anything Republican or conservative.

:hi:

8. Hey, they brought in Rivera after all
I guess Girardi thought it was just too obvious to bring in Joba.

11. That was nice of the announcers
They conceded that if Texas wins the pennant, it would be "a nice accomplishment." Very magnanimous.

And there's one out to go. Can Pay-Rod hit a six-run homer?

But making him the last out works for me, too.

18. As a Mariners fan, I always feel enormous satisfaction when
PayRod strikes out, especially if that strike out is the final out and the Yankees lose the game!
