To the countless Texas haters on DU
I'm a Rays fan, but the DFW Metroplex has an American League champion. And I'm very pleased.

Deal with it!

7. Is this a first trip for the Rangers? In that case I'm happy for all of their fans except one;
really not looking forward to seeing Shrub smirking in the stands at the WS...

8. First time
I remember going to the old ballpark in 1972, sitting in the bleachers with about a total of 5000 fans in the stadium. They've come a long, long way.

I was one of those few fans. Notwithstanding GWB, I think it's terrific that the Rangers are in the WORLD SERIES!!!

12. I didn't start going until 1985 or so, but there were still only 5000 fans some of those times.
I remember homeruns hitting empty seats and watching kids run thirty yards to get to the ball first. I remember "booing" Steve Buechelle and cursing Kenny Rogers and then cheering Kenny Rogers and then cursing Kenny Rogers... I watched Nolan Ryan strike out 16 in a one hitter, with the first hit coming off a fluke pop fly in the first inning. I remember watching the Rangers turn a triple play against, I think, Seattle.

When I moved to Austin, before I would buy our first house I had to drive there while a game was on to be sure I could get Rangers games on the radio at the house. :)

The Saints were my first football team, and the Rangers my first (and only) baseball team, and both make it to their first championship in the same year. :)

26. Bittersweet for me....obviously, living in the DFW area, I'm a Rangers fan...
I chartered the Rays so many time I feel like I almost know them.

Their manager is a class guy.

But it is sweet to finally see the Rangers take the AL!

that is shocking.

Of course when I was a semi fan of one team, Rangers, it was usually faded beginning in July!

Angels fan, I couldn't be happier. However, As a resident of San Francisco, I hope you guys meet the Giants in the World Series. I am sure all my friends here will make me wear a Giants cap, and as a native San Franciscan, I don't think I will mind too much. (My dad lives in NY and still wears his Giants Cap.)

But I really love my American League Angels.

(or any game, actually), the vitriol here would still be incredibly thick.

I hate the Cowboys as much as I hate the Yankees.
I have to mute my hatred because I live with a Cowboys fan, so unless they are playing my team (the Vikings- that win was just great) I try not to cheer when they fail.

They suffer from the same arrogance as the Yankees do and the fan base is obnoxious, only more so because a lot of their fans are Texans, who are mostly kind of obnoxious just about being Texans. I should know; I've lived in Texas 13 years. So for the Cowboys to have a losing season is just great in my opinion.

Just don't ever ask me, under ANY circumstance, to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys.

28. I can't hate Texas!
It's given us Molly Ivins and Ann Richards and Jim Hightower and James Garner and Tommy Lee Jones and Renee Zellweger and Lloyd Bentsen and Austin and...so on.
I do admit to hating the Cowboys. But who doesn't?
My joy that the Yankees won't be in the series is only dampened by the fact that the Phillies won't be there either.

31. I don't hate Texas - I just worry about their Bravado
"An American by birth, a Texan by the grace of God"

Shit like that.

Even "Don't mess with Texas" which was an anti-littering campaign, got turned into this phony bravado.

Being in Houston last decade led me to believe that this false bravado makes for stupid people. No offense of course.

As for the World Series, Go Giants.

But in the long run, it means nothing.

Welcome to San Francisco. Now leave me alone.

Congratulations to them. The best thing about the Rangers is that they ain't the Yankees. And in this W.S. there may actually be a chance at having some good weather.
