So we just dropped our oldest off for her first Rocky Horror Picture Show... |
|
trannies, trannies, everywhere...I am so jealous and it brings back so many good memories of the midnight shows in the early '80's.

4. What a cool rite of passage. |
|
We did not have such a cool rite of passage when I was a kid. But I do remember when my oldest went to her first Rocky Horror Picture Show. I think she was seventeen, too.

5. Awwwww... Brings back good memories. |

Or what would be memories if I could only remember them.
Don't dream it. Be it.

9. They had prop buckets there... |
|
didn't see anyone with rain gear on. When I picked them up right at the end it was PACKED--she said there were over 3,000 in the audience and they were wild. Daughter had an awesome time and is already making plans to go again next year. She's no longer a VIRGIN, hehe!

12. "prop buckets" - OOOOHHH NOOOOOEEEESSS!!!! |
|
What has the world come to? Acually, I've never seen it in a theater/gymnasium/rented hall, but I have seen it on DVD and, well, it is sort of stupid. I REALLY like the scene from "Time Warp" where they have the guy behind the desk showing the chart of "You take a step to the left...".
At the time it was certainly ground-breaking and probably paved the way for movies like "This Is Spinal Tap" to become cult classics, but it just never gave me the infection (no pun intended or implied).

13. If you didn't see it with an audience, you never actually SAW it... |
|
That's like saying you watched Star Wars on Granny's 20" black and white tv. RHPS is all about audience participation, dressing up and getting your freak ON.
One time in your life you should at least try to go participate--live a little, life is short!

14. Oh geeze, let's not go there (the "live a little" department). |
|
I'll probably go with one of my daughters one day - just to do it.

So touching--first tooth lost, first day of kindergarten, first RHPS...!
Seriously, what a great mom you are--none of that revisionist history and "do as I say not as I do" stuff. :applause:
I, too, have fond memories of midnight showings of RHPS in the early '80s, and would happily help my kid get to a show when he's old enough. He's going to be 7 in a couple of weeks--having a Halloween/birthday party next weekend and I'm debating whether his friends' parents will get freaked out if we have a lesson in doing the Time Warp! Hey, I can gloss over the "pelvic thrust" part--!
