People say "Thanks" or "I love you" in different ways. |
|
People express themselves in many different ways.
I went over to my parents house to help them paint today before work. (They're in the middle of a re-modeling project)
The day's discussion was mostly about the cost of the new furnace, family plans for Thanksgiving, my mom having the flu and the remake of True Grit. (We both agreed that Wayne's best cowboy flick was The Searchers. John Ford rules.)
We painted for a couple of hours and then I chatted with my mom while he ate a sandwich.
Then he said, "You're blocking my car, I gotta run an errand."
Me: "Ok, I'm out the door anyway."
One-handed Clap-hug.
"Cya."
"Cya."
I drove home and when I took off my jacket, I emptied my pockets on the table by the door. I reached into my inner-pocket and there's a fifty tucked in with my cell that certainly wasn't there before.
Thanks dad.
:-)

1. Yeah, I palm my daughters cash when they're on the way out with friends. |
|
They appreciate the discrete approach.

2. Your Dad's a reverse Pocket-Picker. He's a "Pocket-Sticker!" |
|
You know how lucky you are, right?
So many people hunger for even a scrap of affection from family.

3. There are two very telling things about this. |
|
One, that your dad is generous and sweet enough to slip you money, and two, that you are a generous son who's comfortable enough in yourself to let him without reading anything deprecating into it. Which is also probably a tribute to your parents. Congrats all around! Now don't spend it all in one place.

7. Awww...my favorite post of the day. |
|
What an uplifting story! (You have no idea of how much love you're giving to your parents when you help out with such a chore.)
