hot flashes! Good reason not to attend a reunion? |
|
Ugh! It is so hot down here in S. Texas. We are going to hit 90 degrees all next week. I have class today at 1 and also a reunion from 1030-1630. Don't mind going to class. I can schlep in there and sit in the back and its nice and cold.
The reunion is another thing. I was planning on making an appearance before class, but time is running out. I just feel all sweaty and gross. And then its a reunion of my old unit and all they want to talk about is the past and drink. I don't drink and the past is the past. I keep up with them on Facebook anyway. I will be in an irritable mood cuz of the hot flashes. I'm dressed and look good - hair/make-up perfect. I just don't feel like talking to anyone. We'll see how it goes. I am hungry, so food could lure me in - lol.

1. Embrace the flash, sister. |
|
Get or make a fan, act like a diva and when a flash hits, say "Why, I believe the 4:19 is coming thru!" or "Stand back, boys; I'm having a power surge and it's not safe to stand too close."
You've got 'em, might as well work with them. Living is a lot more fun, and you might even drag a few of them into the present.

3. You bet. My husband brought me a truly gorgeous fan from Japan |
|
and I flash that sucker like a diamond tooth. Of course I also wear a LOT of natural fiber and keep a cold, non-alcoholic drink in my hand at parties.

4. I usually just suffer through it in silence. |
|
I had a hot flash once at work, while I was giving a presentation in fairly close quarters. It was so bad that one of my co-workers went to his office and got a box of tissues for me.
That was when I was suffering, undiagnosed and unaware, from Graves Disease.

5. Well I went and had a great time |
|
It was fun and sad at the same time. The old commanders are OLD! One of the old civilians fell and had to be helped out. No drinking, just tea and soft drinks and lots of chicken fried steaks.
Didn't have a single hot flash. Kept a smile on my face the whole time. Then headed on out to my class.
