Why don't people read anything but the title and first line of a thread?

Seriously, people post responses without reading anything written below the title. Why is that? And what is your favorite color? Both questions interest me.

People can read your full reply and still disagree with you. Whatev... not everything has to get snotty.

Granted the first and second questions are very similar, they're not identical.

I am fond of purple, but I don't really have answers for the other two questions. If I am going to post something in a thread, I read the entire post to which I am replying.
