E-Cigarettes
I have no complaints, no urges to smoke a real cigarette.

To my surprise, it tastes better than loose rolling tobacco which I used (Bugler, Top, etc). It doesn't really taste like a real cigarette, it has a flavor of its own. I also read that they come in various kinds of flavors, I just got a generic tasting one.

It also takes awhile to charge. So if you're wondering about them, I really like them. Plus, they come out way cheaper in the long run as long as I don't buy tobacco.

1. What kind did you get?
I am getting my husband one especially after reading the results of the new study which directly connects smoking and alzheimers.

2. I got it in
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 02:49 AM by JonLP24
Fry's Grocery store. It says E-Cigarette on the cover, SBS on the side. Not sure how many places carry it. I got it for 49.99. It came with the "stick", 4 filters, and USB charger. I've read that each filter lasts 1-2 weeks, depending on how often you use. When I run out, I can always buy new filters without buying the "stick". It is pricey, however it will save me money in the long run because buying loose rolling tobacco is not as cheap as it used to be.

5. I recently discovered flavors.
Blueberry, in particular, is just plain awesome. It's like lung candy. Cotton Candy is also pretty good. This place: http://myfreedomsmokes.com/ has the best juice options I've found yet. I like a low % veggie glycol mix with strong (not extra strong) flavoring. Going extra strong with the blueberry results in green poop. Ya - weird, I know.

7. Can I ask you some questions? How long and how much did you smoke?
How long have you been using e-cigs? Did you go cold turkey? Have you tried to quit before and what were your results (how long were you able to quit for)?

Ugh - I am coming to the conclusion that I need to quit. I have tried the patch, wellbutrin, nicotine gum and chantrix. My longest quit was 10 days :-(

8. Ok.
How long and how much did you smoke?
For about 9 years, I probably smoked on average a pack and a half a day.

How long have you been using e-cigs?
Since Monday morning

Did you go cold turkey?
Do you mean if I have smoked a cigarette since using the e-cigarette? If so, I haven't smoked any tobacco since using the e-cigarette.

Have you tried to quit before and what were your results (how long were you able to quit for)?
The most successful trial I went prior was in basic training where cigarettes were banned (as well as candy). The first opportunity I had, I smoked a cigarette. After that I probably went over 1 week without smoking when I had nicotine lozenges. Even when using those, I had strong cravings for cigarettes and eventually ran out of lozenges and went back to cigarettes.

With an e-cigarette, I actually like it better than smoking and I'm looking out to trying the different kinds of flavors. I have some coffee juices ordered but I'm going to check out the others with the link the other poster in this thread gave us.

9. Thanks Jon. I'm thinking maybe I would try e-cigs and combine
with nicotine gum - I don't know that I am ready to give up the nicotine yet. I have smoked a pack a day since I was 13 and am now 52...tough habit to break.

10. I will say
these e-cigarettes are probably not a great device to get you to quit nicotine. At this point, I really like them I don't plan on quitting all together anytime soon. It is amazing that they could get all the "benefits" of smoking into a less harmful tool, plus you don't have lingering smells if you're an indoor smoker, no worry about getting ash trays or moving things around to make room for your ash tray. Also don't have to worry about burning yourself or accidentally setting something on fire.

Anyways, what I'm saying is gums and patches are obviously designed for you to eventually get off nicotine. With e-cigs, I can seriously see myself using this recreationally just as I did with cigarettes which I've been doing so far.
