1. I put 150K on a 91 Escort wagon and only sold it because it was too small to fit the kids. |
|
It had plenty of room for two car seats and a booster seat but because booster seats are wider, it just wouldn't fit two booster seats and a car seat. My late FIL gave us his 93 Sable wagon (which is still going strong) and they fit fine. I sold the Escort to one of my wife's friends and he has put at least another 150K on it. Damn good car on all counts (except for width).

2. Actually my Uncle is still driving his 20 year old Escort |
|
And while he doesn't drive very many miles he has almost never had issues with it. I generally dislike Fords but I have been impressed with the Escort. It was kinda a shame they stopped making it.

4. i LOVED my '91 escort GT |
|
great little car, lasted a long time with just the recommended maintenance.
we also had a '92 escort wagon, again a great little car, lasted quite a while.
i tend to get a new or "new"/used car then drive it into the ground before i get another.

Best compliment I ever got on it was, "Is that a 5.0?" (as in Mustang GT 5.0)

6. First day I got mine I triggered the fuel cutoff and thought it was D.O.A.! |
|
Brand newly used '89 GT filled with my friends cruising the New Orleans lakefront... hit one big bump in the road.... total engine failure!
We pushed it to my school nearby and I did alot of frenzied research and discovered this thing called a Fuel Cutoff Switch. Disaster averted.
