Just heard the biggest rip-off tune in a long time.
Kid Rock, "All Summer Long."

Used different lyrics, but the tune was absolutely Warren Zevon's "Werewolves Of London."

1. Sampling has been around for a long time
Hell, most of the music in the hip hop category is just sampled tunes from times past.

2. The chords, harmony, and arrangement are Zevon, The Tune (melody) is not.

Welcome to modern music, it's an "homage." You may hear another popular tune in there if you listen closely.

7. It's a mixture of the two
Bob Ritchie can use Cool Edit Pro. Put Skynyrd in one track, Zevon in the other, sync em up so they're the same tempo, and you got a hit record.

Sure it's a rip off, but far less so than Johnny Van Zant living off his long dead brother's name.

3. My issue with the song isn't so much the Warren Zevon riff so much as...
The fact that it's a really shitty song. (By a really shitty musician.)

5. I get so disappointed when that one comes on.
Here I am, for the first 5-10 seconds, expecting "Werewolves of London," but no, it's fucking KID ROCK. :puke:

8. Sounds like what you'd get if you put "Werewolves", "Sweet Home", Bob Seeger, and...
stale Southern Comfort puke in a blender.

9. I do stuff for a roller derby league in Akron . . .
. . . ugh, they lurves them some nu-assrock, and this is the worst offender (other than "Bodies" by Drowning Pool). CONSTANTLY hear this playpen mash-up at their matches and after-parties.
