Reached a milestone today. |
|
It was a year ago today that we learned that my wife has brain cancer. At that time, we were told she had a correctable problem, but soon learned that this was not true. She has oligodendroglioma, which is much less aggressive than Ted Kennedy's cancer, but terminal just the same.
The medical websites say she has as little as 3.5 years to live, but she could live over 15 years. For the longest time I dwelled on that 3.5 year number, but now that it's been a full year, and she's doing very well, I am starting to breathe a little easier.
Next week she'll start her 11th chemo treatment. We're hoping she'll be off chemo after 12 treatments. That depends on what her December MRI looks like.
It's amazing how different your life can become in the blink of an eye.

1. It's not the long struggles that get you, it's the moments |

when things turn.
All the best to your wife and to you. May you cherish every moment, every day.
Thank you for reminding us how fragile life is.
