Anyone have experience with Roomba vacuum cleaners? |
|
Specifically, can they make it from a linoleum kitchen or bathroom floor to a carpeted rest of the place an inch or nearly two higher without help? I could of course just vacuum more often than weekly with the conventional vacuum, but I'm afraid the kitty would rebel and/or kill me in my sleep. Your thoughts?

3. Well, can I program it to keep to the carpeted areas? |
|
I thought that there was a feature where you could virtually rope off sections of the house.

4. I only had one briefly. Yes there are devices |
|
that can keep it in a certain space (as I recall each Roomba comes with one of these and you can order another if you need it). I thought it was a cool novelty that lets you use your regular vac less often.

5. My home has hadrwood floors with area rugs. |
|
The roomba had trouble going from bare floor to area rugs so it got hung up on the edges of the carpet. It would probably do better on wall to wall carpet.

6. Thanks, good info! I think I'll just vacuum one pass twice a week |
|
instead of two passes once a week, and kitty impact will be about the same. 2d pass never got much up anyway.
Of course if some well-to-do family member is reading this and is stuck on what to get me for Christmas, I wouldn't say no to a Roomba!:)

My older son got me one for Mother's Day this year because he knew how much I wanted one. I run it every few days on my combination hardwood and carpeted floors. Mine has an auto-reverse function that disentangles the Roomba if it gets caught on the fringe on the rugs. I also have the different things that I can use to keep it off of the stairs and can also program it to stay in one room for 25 minutes and then go to the next room for another 25. Mine can run about 45 min. to an hour between charges.
The only issue that I have is that the wheels on the brushes get tangled up with dog hair. I generally need to clean the wheels and brushes every time I use it, but that only takes a couple of minutes.
I give my Roomba a big  !

10. Thanks! Glad it's working out for someone. |
|
As I mentioned upthread, I'll probably just vacuum more frequently with my conventional model, but if I ever live someplace larger, I'll certainly look into getting one.
