1. What you are talking about is called an "open jaw" or "multi city" trip

so wading through all the different outgoing times matched up against returning time is crazy.

Sometimes it's cheaper to fly in to one city and out another - unless you have to rent a car!

2. Most of them do now. Even the airlines sites will have open jaw (mult-city) options. However,

most if not all of them are either/or. If you do open jaw, you can't do flexible dates. At least from what I recall. Kayak is a pretty good travel site.
