Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl
I just want to say that I think South Park did a great job animating Cthulhu.

The most detailed descriptions of Cthulhu appear in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu", and are based on the statues of the creature. One, constructed by an artist after a series of baleful dreams, is said to have "yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings." Another, recovered by police from a raid on a murderous cult, "represented a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind." (wiki)

Last week: BP CEO apologizing for unleashing Cthulhu:

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.

3. Me too.
HPL's stuff is so weird and terrifying.

And the amazing thing is it hasn't lost it's touch in a century. It still scares and inspires people.

6. Weird Fiction
LOL!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weird_fiction

Weird fiction is a subgenre of speculative fiction written in the late 19th and early 20th century. Weird fiction is distinguished from horror and fantasy in that it predates the niche marketing of genre fiction. Because genre or stylistic conventions had not been established, weird tales often blend the supernatural, mythical, and even scientific. British "weird" authors, for example, published their work in mainstream literary magazines even after American pulp magazines became popular. Popular weird fiction writers included H. P. Lovecraft, Lord Dunsany, Arthur Machen, and M. R. James.

I actually have some audio cassettes somewhere of some Lovecraft. Nothing like having it read by a talented voice.

4. I'm always reminded of HP Lovecraft, the band
'67. San Francisco. They totally embody the San Francisco sound of that year. I met a wonderful girl at Golden Gate Park that year at one of their concerts. I often think of her in the fall when in southern California the nights are still warm and the breeze has a smoky taste to it. Like her blonde hair on the beach in front of the bonfire.
Ah, the summer of love...........

7. I'll have to check that episode out.

The design reminds me a lot of the "HorrorClix" Cthulhu game figure that came out a few years ago. They were blowing these out on ebay a while back.
