Good Housekeeping rates best frozen, pre-made & mix pie crusts
Here's a link rating pre-made and mix pie crusts. I can easily make a pie crust but sometimes I don't care for the mess or I'm stressed out.

Personally I like the Pillsbury refrigerated crusts for pecan pie and quiche. :)

1. I can't make a pie crust to save my life
And I cook and bake a lot. It's a strange thing but I always end up making a huge mess and throwing the dough away in the end. So I pick my battles in the kitchen.I depend on mixes or refrigerated. Thanks for the link.

Happy bird day!

2. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing that! I'm getting ready to do my shopping and need to pick up some pie crusts. My daughter in law and I are going to attempt to make homemade pie crust this year but I will have a backup just in case.

I can already picture the hilarity of making homemade pie crusts. We will probably end up with more flour on the floor than in the pie crust. How's that for optimism?

3. use lard
and ice cold water - don't over handle once the water goes in

lard gives a MUCH easier-to-handle dough AND a much better texture

also: if you don't have one, I recommend picking up a pastry cutter - easier than using two knives

5. I Already Cheated
I was at Sam's yesterday and bought one of their pumpkin pies for $5.88. I will still try a pie crust on Wednesday to make apple pie.

4. Trader Joe's are very good.

I've tried them. Generous size, good flavor, nice flake. They are in the freezer case.

and tend to be in a hurry.

I was surprised how the memory of how to roll out the crust came back to me. Hadn't done it for 35 years, probably. I think it was a Pillsbury mix- the consistency seemed to be just right after you added the water. I'm planning to try a homemade crust before the New Year.

7. I always use a frozen pie crust.
Too much time and effort. I got other things to cook.

Frozen Pet-Ritz was #3 on the list. That's what I usually get. I have never heard of the Wholesome brand they rate as #1.
