My dog/cat is unusual because...
Well, my cat Cider loves mushrooms. If I even so much as grab a can he's sitting on the sink waiting for them to go into the colander. And my beagle boy Bailey likes to sleep under the covers (at least till he gets too warm.)

1. my cat Riff Raff pals around with raccoons
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 05:44 AM by Skittles
on my nights off of work I usually stay up all night and a few times when I decline to let him go out, raccoons have appeared at my patio French door peering in, trying to find him

3. I find it alarming but...
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 05:57 AM by Skittles
RR was a feral injured stray when I got him and, well, I've made him what I call "half a pet" = he simply has to have his outside time; he is microchipped, collared and has ALL shots he can have :o

We just had our last pup chipped. Can't stand the thought of losing any of them.

6. My cat monster attacks me once a month. He just gets pissed off if
I do something, like push him off my keyboard, and he can't handle his anger. Fortunately he only has one fang so he can't pucture my skin when he bites.

7. My dog is a nag with a built in calender.
Tuesday nights, after supper, he'll sit next to me and "bark, bark" , "bark, bark" until we get up and put the garbage out. It's uncanny.

11. One of my dogs goes crazy for butt scratchings.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 01:07 AM by Akoto
He's a Miniature Schnauzer, named Spud. For some reason, he has always looooved getting scratched just above his tail. He sticks his butt up in the air the moment you imply that you might give some scratchin'.

After a minute of that, he wiggles around and wipes out, I guess in happiness overload ... and then gets back up to request more. :D

15. Hmm. Let's see here.
All cats:

Clarisse is attracted to stinky men (anyone who comes in from doing work outside, and she's all over them).

Novi has the most incredible, LOUD purr. If she's in the same room and I'm on the phone, the person on the call can hear her.

Bimbo just has the most effervescent, bubbly personality of any creature - human or otherwise - I've ever met. And she loves to have her tail pulled.

Silver seems to have a problem with tongue retraction. Half the time her tongue is hanging out, and it is just too impossibly cute.

MiniMe is a loner, and of all the six cats, much prefers to hang out in the basement. I worry about her antisocial ways. But she can kick some serious butt; when she was younger and we let her out, she brought us home - regularly - water rats that were at least half her size. Don't f*ck with the Min-Pie.

Ivan is an enormous male tuxedo who brings home pieces of fried chicken. I think the neighbor feeds it to him, and he brings it back to share. He also is a guardian of all the girls: when Bimbo and MiniMe were kittens, they climbed a tree and got scared (and the tree was way too flimsy for me to try to get them.) Ivan climbed up the tree and brought the girls down. :loveya:

27. hey Skittles - "my" Bimbo is a long-haired orange tabby
she's gorgeous, her fur is orange / strawberry blonde. Her given name is Marilyn, because she'll stand over the a/c vent in the summertime and shimmy as her fur blows all over - much like Marilyn Monroe and her white dress :)

16. My cat is psychotic and vicious to me and to hubby
But not to most other people, even veterinarians and their assistants don't get attacked by him. Me, I've got scars on my legs and arms where he has attacked when I didn't feed him fast enough or open the door for him to go out.

He's nearly ten years old, though, and beginning to mellow a little. He seems to give me a little more slack these days and to be more grateful and affectionate when I give him canned food or make sure he is inside when the weather outside is bad. Maybe by the time he is an old kitty he will be downright cuddly!

The other unusual thing about him is that he loves going for rides in the golf cart with me. He gets mad if I drive anywhere in it without taking him with me. He'll ride along and jump off if he sees something he wants to attack, then squall if I drive on without him. Being part Siamese, he has a heck of a squall for a little cat!

likes to 'nurse' on my earlobe. But only in the bathroom. She'll go in there and 'talk' until I come in and sit down. Then she'll 'nurse' for about five minutes - purring and kneading the entire time. :D

22. Weird Harold was a ferret in his former life.
Any tunnel, anywhere, and he is in it. I've had to make alleyways and pass-throughs from room to room, so he can slither and snake his way through the house. He also likes to sleep like a person - head on pillow, body under covers.

What? Didn't you want help with the bills?

Yes. I really sleep like this:

He's also a garbage picker, raiding the garbage bag for wrappers, bread bags, and even the shrink wrap from boxes of electronic items.

24. Bella can climb trees (she's a dog)
Not all trees but if there's one that has a V or decent foothold she can use to get her up to a big branch, she can climb it.

Unfortunately I have yet to get her to do it on demand (perhaps it's easier to train the squirrels that lead her up these trees) and I never have my camera on me when she does. I will continue to try to get pic though lest you all think me insane.
