you find it changes your mood or makes you gain weight and such. Looking for annecdotal information from people who may have stopped drinking aspartame.

1. A nurse told me that it seemed to aggravate psychiatric disorders
She didn't elaborate though. I worked with people with diabetes and our nutritionists said Aspartame was not good and they recommended stevia. However, from my experience, and you may not like this, any artificial sweetener, taken in excess poses some threat. And I suggest people switch to tea.

3. It makes me mean. Seriously snappy.
I think the research I did back then said that it effects protein synthesis in the brain and could interfere with brain synapse firing. I never followed that up since I wasn't using it any longer...

6. If you like tea you could try drinking sweet tea with stevia

and see what the removal of the aspartame does for you. I'm remembering other things now too...studies showing it caused MS like symptoms and worsening of fibromyalgia symptoms. Not sure if either of those were actually proven or discredited. I didn't have any luck with splenda either...so pretty much soda free now, and avoid all artificial sweeteners.

Good luck!

12. I've never been able to consume it
Since it first came out it made me sick to my stomach, gave me headaches and the shakes. Two of my four brothers also always had big problems with it. It's evil.

13. Do NOT!! Consume Aspartame. See this video!!...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvFRLIjOLOU
This video seems to have a great deal of scientific backup and political analysis.

Monsanto, who lined the pockets of some well known politicians, got Aspartame pushed aspartame through the FDA before it was fully tested. Independent tests found that (among many other red flags) it causes brain tumors in mice.

Also... see the plethora of results when you search for "aspartame dangers" on you tube. --

And... "aspartame poison" -- http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=aspartame+poison&aq=f
