Super exciting laptop battery voltage question
I have to replace my laptop battery, and the stock battery says it is 9.6 volts. The exact replacement from Dell is $150.

I found allegedly compatable batteries that match the Dell part and replacement part numbers for much much cheaper; however, they are 14.8 volt batteries.

Will a higher voltage battery destroy my laptop?

1. Yes, but..
having bought laptop batteries before, the manufacturer replacement battery price is the highest one always.

So, the answer is, neither of the two options you've found. Keep looking. Or shoot me a PM with the model of the laptop and I'll find the battery...I'm kind of good at this. I've replaced my transformer and my battery for under $30 each where the retail from Acer was over $200 combined.
