I noticed a trend.
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 03:43 PM by RandomThoughts
So I should repeat some things.

I am not playing any games, I am not competing with anyone, I don't have anything to lose, I have not won anything, I don't believe in the doctrines of highlander, nor do I give value to things beyond what I think they might mean. Nor do I think my posts change things, nor would expect them to. Although some are entertaining, and there is some enjoyment and feeling in many things.

Or to make it easier to understand, I still don't have beer and travel money. So how could I have won or lost anything?

Some really great songs out there, I have wondered about the comment in 13th Warrior

Buliwyf: I have only these hands. I will die a pauper.
King Hrothgar: You will be buried as a king.
Buliwyf: A man might be thought wealthy if someone were to draw the story of his deeds, that they may be remembered.
Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: Such a man might be thought wealthy indeed.

I do think on that comment from time to time.

1. in another thread there was a comment.
That is label trap, haven't you figured that out yet. Think about it, does the label match, or the actions and the ways of thought?

If you follow the labels, you don't make decisions on very much information.

Also why I think label trap, when it occurs is a good thing, it can help people learn of label trap. Also why I don't avoid things because of a few label traps in them. Since anyone can pick a label and think it defines what something means.

3. semantics ... connotations .... personal history...HOW something is said
as much as WHAT is said...all can add to confusion especially on the internet.

2. All language is a "label trap."
We are all alone in our heads, trapped (or not) within the confinements of our own internal languages, but always lost in a vast sea of imperfect translation we call communication.

Some take comfort in the confinement of these labels and avoid examining the imperfections of communication which cause them great anxiety. They will even try to impose their own labels and internal languages on others, which is impossible and leads to great strife. It is as if they fear they will not exist outside their languages.

Yet we do exist inside and outside the languages. If we are comfortable in both places we cannot be confined by the labels.

4. Thanks for the thoughtful reply.
An interesting take on comfort zones, in regard to label trap.

If it only created anxiety, it would not be good, but if that can help correct some things that those conditions caused, especially with sophisticated marketing, then it becomes necessary.
