My complaint of the day: unprofessional calls from charities
I know I must sound like Scrooge for complaining about this, but this last call just got on my last nerve.

Getting the calls themselves isn't so bad, I understand that the world in general is hurting and we've been giving just about all of our disposable income lately to various organizations. I'm so thankful that I have a roof over my head and food on my table that I want it to happen for others as well.

But jeez, can't these places hire people who won't be chewing potato chips or gum or whatever while asking you for money? I swear most of them sound like they just put the world's biggest jawbreaker in their mouth just before calling.

I can't imagine that it inclines people to open their pocketbooks to hear slobbering and crunching in their ears.

I used to do phone bank work and we were NEVER allowed to have ANYTHING in our mouths while at our desks. Now it seems to be a requirement.

3. oh my god, you're kidding.
I think I might have said something to my doctor - would mention it next time I went in. That's gross.

5. I may!
It was so jaw dropping that I was unable to say anything to the person directly - just kind of awkward all the way around!

9. ah, I usually go to a large facility for mine- can't imagine the tech doing that
there. Maybe they are simply more relaxed or have fewer lunch options! :D

4. You don't like amateur volunteers?
You were expecting professional volunteers?

11. I'll admit that I could be wrong but I was under the impression that
large charities like Doctors Without Borders and WWF used professionals to do their phone work.

However, even if they are volunteers, I would think that if they cared, they would try to make a good impression. I did volunteer phone bank work for my congressman this last election, and I treated it just as I would have a paying job. Maybe even more so, because it was something I deeply believed in.

10. I've gotten those as well. But I'd rather have that than someone
who just doesn't seem to care about making a good impression.

And to me, chewing and drooling in someone's ear is a signal that they don't care.
