1. I'm not from Cleveland- I'm from evil Steeler land - but seriously
the guy did a lot of good for Cleveland and the area, he's an amazing player (we saw him when the Cavs and San Antonio played an exhibition game here) and he has a right to go where he chooses. I can understand people there being hurt and angry, but I thought the booing was kinda petty. :hide:

2. and he single handedly destroyed the economy of downtown Cleveland
Come on. If you don't know how economically depressed that particular area is, you aren't paying attention. The Cavs were the ONLY sprots franchise that was really bringing in money to the downtown area for the last 4 or 5 years.
I would say if you lose the one attraction that brings in money to your city, you have EVERY RIGHT TO BOO.
(besides the fact that he was pretty assinine about leaving too).
I'm tired of the "Cleveland should shut up cause LeBron is above critique cause he's good" meme.
Is Cleveland bitter, yes? But they have every right to be. The next person who throws the right wingish "get over it" at me is gonna get flamed too. Broken hearts (and thats what these folks suffer from) take time to mend.

away. I understand it was very painful for fans. But this happens all the time in sports - he was on the Cavs for a long time, and he wanted to make a change. Although I suppose if Mario Lemieux had left the Penguins in the 80s, there might have been similar reactions.

I don't think he himself destroyed the economy of Cleveland, I suspect there are plenty of folks to blame for that over the years, including Ronald Reagan. And he continues to donate money to Akron, correct? Forgive me if that seems a bit hyperbolic...
