3. My husband got a Kindle last year claiming he got is so we could share. |
|
I haven't seen it since he took it out of the box. Are you going to share your Color Nook?

I let him have it long enough to put it on charge or to transfer my books onto it. I'm a good person.

I think this is the new getting your wife what you want shtick. They have Wi-Fi and 3G now, with no monthly payments, that seems too good to be true. Probably, the 3G is only so you can get new books, not general application. But Wi-Fi, that would be very convenient, not squishy like the iPhone and much smaller than a lap top.

8. Getting an e-Reader is like buying an iPod.... |
|
It's the add-on costs that are driving up the expense. A book here, a book there.... "but honey, it's on sale for $4.99!" Yes, but you can get it at the library for free! Granted, you actually have to pick it up and flip a page....but it's free!

And libraries are still great places, better than coffee shops, I think. And I like the feel of a book in my hands, could be I am just set in my ways, but books have always been friends, like comfort food. Maybe if we ask Will the right questions, he will enlighten us to the attraction.

10. Now when I was working on my degree I would have liked to have had one... |
|
Most of my textbooks were available on the Kindle and the seminars I had to go to three times a year involved plane travel. The books were murder on the weight of my luggage. I can see the advantage when you need to haul a library around with you, but I don't see myself having to do that very much in the future.

You had to travel to seminars? Now I have to ask what you studied.

Is that I can take books along on trips for both Paul and I to read (mostly him since I have to do all the driving) and it will also stream music and we can put videos on it as well.
I like books and was an avid reader for a long time, but I like the Nook because it allows me to read a book but do a lot more besides.

19. I have to be honest re: Kindle |
|
I probably would have gone with it if the Nook wasn't color and I've had issues with Amazon in the past when they insisted the animal fighting material (dog and cockfighting) they were selling was tantamount to censorship if they should stop. I do not know if they have continued their ways as I have not been back to their site since I got their letter about it.

I didn't even know about the animal abuse materials. I use Amazon for almost everything. Crap, and especially since they gave such a lame excuse and this thing with Assange...I am going to have to make the tough decision.

It's the logical question, since you were asking which books you should get.
Congrats :bounce: I hope you like it very much!

I picked up a few other books (to test it out I was looking for some gay fiction) but the ones that I found were rather lacking.

Is the sound quality. A pair of headphones evens that out, though. Everything else I like (so far).
