How'd you like to help name a person? In this case it's me. Going to change my name.

All of my life I've been called by my middle name by anyone who really knows me. Well, I'm getting a tad tired of being called by my first name, which I do not identify with at all. I want to be called by my middle name. So I'm really considering dropping the first name.

I need a new middle name.

My new first name will be Chris, and my last Kelly. I need a middle name now. What should it be? My mom, the one who raised me, not the one who named me, said I should take Doyle. Doyle is the last name of my grandmother. I like it, in a way. But it sounds kind of old fashioned.

I was thinking something that started with "O", just to fuck with people a little. :P

So what do you think?

4. I did that.
Except with me it was easy because I just dropped the first name, moved my maiden name into the middle slot and took my husband's last name. Still had to go through the court system to do it though.

How about:

Ogilvie (Scottish: from the high peak) -- with those initials? Hmmmm
Olen (means loving, caring, happy person)
Orion (Greek: son of fire)
Orlan (Spanish form of Roland)
Osborn (divine warrior)
Owain (From Arthurian legend)

As you can tell, I like the intials.

Rhythmically, I like a two syllable middle name for you, but that's just me.

9. I actually thought of Orion, I think it might be right.

It's kind of spacey, and I love the son of fire thing. That's wonderful.

I love my initials too, if I go through with this.

5. Not a whole lot of Ruperts.
If your chose Doyle, it would suck if people started calling you Doy for short.

But a grandparent's last name is traditional southern. My wife was a last name, her mom, our daughter.....

"Nothing."

13. Quit dicking around with me.
:P

And I know. That's why I want it, just to fuck with people. I can't wait to tell people my new name. I imagine it will be like:

"I finally changed my name to Chris. I looked around for a good middle name, and Orion struck a chord with me." :P

24. Hey you should. I was considering it. It's the only one that sounds good to me.
And I'm pretty set on the initials, I want to be a dick and poke fun at myself.

I don't know if I'll actually have a party or anything.

32. You have a name used by those who know you and another used by
those who don't. This is actually very valuable to you, though you don't seem to realize it. It enables you to tell immediately whether a phone-caller knows you or not, for example

Why not just fine tune it a bit? Whatever your first name is, use an unusual pronunciation of it. For example, if your first name is "Joe" and people at work call you that, point out to them that you actually pronounce it "Yo." Then the cold-callers will ask for "Joe," co-workers will ask for "Yo," and friends will ask for "Chris" -- you'll know something about the phone-caller the moment they ask for you

33. I'd go with Doyle.
I think unused middle names should be unique and impractical. In the same situation as you, I chose Channing. (It's not a family name, just one I liked.)

Besides that, Doyle is a kick-ass name.
