I just learned who was cast for the American version of the Girl with the dragon tattoo.
I don't like it. Or more to the point, I'm pretty sure the girl will do fine, Rooney Mara, but Daniel Craig as Mikael? Nope. Don't see it.

I was hoping for someone who could play a middle aged journalist. Someone a little more on the dumpy side, but with an intelligent look on his face. Craig has too much perfection to make this work.

1. He looks ridden hard and put away wet to me, but I like his acting
I think he'll do well in the part; he's quite a good actor and he does look 'weathered.' I know a lot of people think he's hot as fire and I know I'm the weirdo - even my husband thinks he's hot - but I think most of us can agree on his acting. :-)

6. I've Seen 2 Of The 3 Swedish Movies, Now; Really Enjoyed Them.

I don't think the Hollywood versions are going to be nearly as good......

7. They can't be better.
The Swedish films are perfect. The right dark lighting and somber skies. What are they going to do? Make a copy of the Swedish film?

The only thing that might save them is that I heard that the films are not a direct adaptation of the books. So, if they come up with an original screenplay, it might work for them.

I don't know. I saw the Prime Suspect adaptations and all I could say was, why? Why? WHY!

It was sheer American pablum.

14. Remember how much the US remake of "The Vanishing" suuuuucked?
And both movies had the same director.

10. Yep. Both films were wonderful and so true to the books. Amazing they got all that action into each
film.

9. He was really good in that Truman Capote film as one of the murderers. I think he has range.

11. Yes, I had forgotten about that role.
He was also in The Golden Compass, where he played a more staid character. Michael Nyqvist may be older and with a bit of extra weight, but he is still has sex appeal, something Daniel Craig is not lacking in.

12. And if the movie follows the book he will be having sex with all the female characters
in the film so it might believable with Daniel Craig playing the lead.

I first took notice of him in The Mother - he has a lot of range; give him a chance I say
