"Dandy Don" Meredith, first Dallas Cowboy player ever, QB and announcer, dies.

He was the first player signed by the Cowboys, just before they entered the NFL...He never won a championship, but set records passing and was inducted into the Cowboys Circle of Fame in 2009.
He had suffered a stroke. He was 72.

He used to joke on the air with Howard Cosell about smoking pot. He was very funny, and they were a good team.

2. Legend has it that he holds the record for the longest pass in the air in an NFL game.

83 yards to Bob Hayes in 1966.

The burner Hayes ran the 12 yards after the catch for a touchdown against the Redskins.
