Christmas cards
It seems every year most of the people I send them to wait until they get one from me then send one. Next year I think I'll save a few trees and a few stamps on both sides and wait until I get a card and then reply.

3. Nobody I know except my wife opens them
Most of the time it's a virus saying it's an e-card.

No paper cards and no e-cards next year. I'll save some bandwidth too.

10. The link I gave is for old fashioned and more recent postcard e-cards
which are also for sale. Cardcow includes the first name of the sender, which you see before opening it. My friends and I send them to each other for birthdays. I have an old Mac computer, so far no virus worries.

6. Just pared my list. I think I can scrounge up 6 stamps.
My small family only this year. I bet I get no more than 6 myself. I remember the years when we send about two hundred. OK, that was back in the 60'd and 70's. I don't have that many friend anymore plus they are not sending either. Last year I got very few. This year they might think I'm a scrooge but I donated my boxes of 'bought on sale after Xmas' cards to our local charity thrift shop. I will work with one box.

Slim pickings this year. Bah, humbug.

7. I send 'em out when paying my bills for December............
I figure - why not? (shrug?) I have to put a stamp on it anyway...so why not make it nice for someone in customer service processing a bunch of boring statements then to send along a nice greeting card with my payment and statement....just for the heck of it! :-)

8. yes they;re a thing of the past
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 07:58 PM by pitohui
maybe around abt 1995 or so i pointed out that it was time to stop swapping xmas cards and killing trees but there are always (mostly older) folk who don't "get it"

i let everyone know i don't send them but if someone sends me one then yes i figure they didn't get the memo or they didn't grok the memo so to be polite and not hurtful i send them a card back

at the end of the day, the best gift you can give people for the holidays is to relieve them of extra obligations...every gift you give, every card you send, that's a JOB you have just heaped onto somebody

those people who wait and only send you cards after you've sent your card...they tried to tell you a decade ago but you just didn't "get it" and they are trying to be kind...but yah they wish you'd stop sending the stupid things already

12. One thing I realized later was...
I haven't seen the "our family is doing better than yours" type cards these past two years. I guess everyone I know is struggling these days.
